One of our distributors held a Technical Solutions Tour last Thursday and Friday in St. Louis to which we attended. I felt the conference was a success for many reasons other than the normal medicinal reasons attributed to getting out of the office. The conference provided us the opportunity to speak with other business owners that were similar to ours which provide IT Support for Small Business while also being Value Added Resellers of hardware and software products.
Most of the feedback I heard was very similar to what we are seeing here in our PC Repair Indiana and IT Support for Small Business practice.
- Most were looking forward to 2010 while seeing a recent up-tick in business
- Prepare to take advantage of Health Care and Government spending
- The software segment has seen positive growth throughout 2009
- Cash is still King, so conserve it when possible
It is always good to get away from the office and talk to ones peers. I was amazed by several niche markets that attendees serve in their respective areas despite big block store competition. For instance, one attendee sells toner to the pharmacy of a large retail operation throughout the country, even though the client sells the same toner themselves.
I look forward to adding a few new vertical market products to our portfolio that we discovered while at the conference as well as rolling out new products in our existing PC Repair Indiana and in our IT Support for Small Business practice. Not to mention that I learned about a few additional rebates and incentives from existing vendors such a HP Procurve that already helped me close a deal. In all, it was a great success!
